    Iraqi partners sharing experiences

    Reaching the end of a four-year collaboration, partners from Duhok, Diwaniyah and Sweden gathered on March 13 and 14 to share learnings.

    New Local Governance Project in Bosnia and Herzegovina

    Bosnia and Herzegovina’s two independent Associations of Municipalities and Cities (AMCs) and Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR) are developing a joint project to advance local governance and the country’s EU integration process.
    Following the signing of agreements between all parties, a kick-off workshop took place in Sarajevo on the 23rd of January. In mid-February a second workshop took place where the local government associations came together to plan project outcomes.

    Tunisian Gender Working Group in Sweden

    As part of the Tunisian Local Governance Project (TLGP), a study visit on Gender Mainstreaming was organized on 6-7 February. The Gender Working Group consists of representatives from a number of Tunisian Municipalities, the National Federation for Tunisian Cities (FNVT), the Ministry of Local Affairs and Environment, the Ministry of Women as well as experts from the civil society.

    The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) was the theme when the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR) organized its annual “International Day” in mid-January, with a record 210 representatives from Swedish municipalities and regions gathered in Stockholm for inspiration on how to contribute to these Global Goals.

    Training on SymbioCity Approach

    During 5th – 9th December, 24 urban planners and architects from cities in Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine met for the first time in Skopje to get a general introduction to the SymbioCity Approach and how it can be used during planning, development and management of urban areas.

    Urban Specialist, SymbioCity Approach

    SKL International is looking for an experienced and dynamic urban specialist to lead its strategic work with the SymbioCity Approach (SCA) – a concept and platform to support sustainable urban development and alleviate urban poverty around the globe. This includes providing strategic direction to ongoing SCA initiatives as well as the long-term development of SKL International’s SCA platform. The Urban Specialist will also be responsible for providing hands-on support to SymbioCity projects in the Sub-Saharan region.
