Swedish Municipalities Link Local and Global
|
Almost all Swedish municipalities and county councils work internationally, according to a new survey conducted by SALAR, Swedish Association of Local and Regional Authorities. Most SALAR members have a focus on the European Union, but around one third of them also work with international development cooperation projects in Africa, Asia or Central and Eastern Europe. Åsa Ehinger Berling, head of the International Section of SALAR comments: - This way, Swedish actors contributes with their competence and knowledge on how to work locally in order to confront global problems. This also shows that Swedish municipalities and county councils lift their eyes above their own horizon and learn from the development going on in other parts of the world. Magnus Liljeström
