SKL International at Sweden-China Environment day

SKL International was represented at the Sweden-China environment day in Beijing on Monday 18th November.

The event was co-organised by the Swedish Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Environmental protection of China and marked the shift from Swedish bilateral support from Sweden to China to bilateral co-operation with special emphasis on environmental protection and sustainable urban development. The shift will be effective from January 2014.

SKL International was present at the event together with its co-operation partner, the China Association of Mayors (CAM), to present the key features and results of the pilot project on sustainable urban development that has been carried out as a co-operation between Duyun in the southern province of Guizhou and Eskilstuna municipality on the Swedish side. SKL International and CAM have jointly facilitated the co-operation, which has been founded on the SymbioCity approach. The project has included analyses to improve linkages between urban systems and sectors in Duyun and has resulted e.g. in concrete measures to enhance citizen involvement through awareness raising and citizen service provision.
