Description of Project

The project aimed at further support to development of practical, democratic and transparent local self-governance in Georgia.

The project comprised:

  • Training of local politicians and officials in the areas of management, information/communication and finance
  • Support of the legislation, including establishment of legislative base for planned administrative-territorial reforms, including budgetary regulations, regulations of state transfers and adjustment of relevant existing legislative acts.

The outputs and recommendations were integrated in the national process of local government and self-government reforms. The project plan closely followed the State Programme for the Second Stage of Georgia’s Municipal Development.
